How RBP Started
RBP was conceived in July 2020 amidst the covid 19 shut-downs. Theater had been a part of our family’s life for about 5 years and we were sad at the thought that it was not going to be a part for the foreseeable future. We jokingly said, “Hey, maybe we should just put on a show in the barn.” After overcoming several obstacles by God’s grace, we put on our first show in October of 2020 with a cast of 11. The show was a blessing to our family, the cast and the over 200 people that came to see the 5 shows…it was the only entertainment in town at that time. It looked like theaters, group activities and entertainment would all continue to be shut down and several families approached us wanting to do a show, a musical, for the spring. As ignorance is often bliss, and God closes our eyes to obstacles that may scare us into not following His will, we put on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in March of 2021 with a cast of 16 to an audience of over 250 over 5 shows complete with a “flying” car! As the world started to open again we thought we were done with our little theater in the barn, but God through His spirit, Word and people showed us otherwise.We prayed if this was what God wanted us to do with our time, talents and treasures and the answer we heard was, yes. He showed us that there was a desire in Sycamore, DeKalb and surrounding counties for a youth theater built on His truth with the purpose of developing Christlike character on and off stage to perform for His glory…that all the world may know. Two years later, what you see today is what we have become through the grace, mercy and will of God. We are humbled to be part of His plan in this way to show His truth and love to His needy world. We hope that you have been blessed through today’s performance and would consider taking a moment to contemplate His great plan for the redemption of His beloved people and the incredible variety of ways He chooses to use all of us to accomplish it! What we do
Our goal is to encourage and support kids as they walk with or to Christ as their Lord and Savior. We do this through live theater as we prepare to put on a full scale production. We don’t expect kids to come in knowing “everything” or “anything” about theater. We look forward to teaching them the many aspects of theater including acting, music, singing, dancing, teamwork and how to walk with Christ in their daily lives.
We encourage kids ages 12-18 to audition to be on stage as part of our productions. (Although we may consider kids beyond ages 12-18 on a case by case basis) "Kids" over 18 are encouraged to participate as production team and back stage crew members.
Our productions are meant to be enjoyed by audiences ages 2-102! (Theater by kids for kids of all ages! ) We do not charge for tickets, but chose to trust in the Lord through the generous donations of our sponsors and audience members to provide for His ministry.
